Deepa Kern

Deepa Kern searches for expression through art. For her art is a spontaneous and joyful celebration of life. It encourages her creativity and invigorates her quest for something truer. She is a traveler on an ever- changing unpredictable journey. Her paintings portray her intuitive journey into the human mind and bring forth spontaneity to the subject she has chosen to depict, be it, figurative, landscapes or abstract.

Deepa is a self-taught artist who began painting about 25 years ago. In September 1998, she held an exhibition of paintings at Coimbatore India, which was sponsored by Mercedes Benz India. A review of her solo exhibition held at Chennai in 2004 can be viewed on the online edition of the Hindu Newspaper. Her   Exhibition held in November 2009 in New York, entitled “a joyful celebration of life” was held at India house and was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Mrs. Meira Kumar. In October 2012 Deepa Kern's paintings were exhibited at the Parallax Art Fair held at London.

She has been commissioned to do paintings for the Training Institute of Larsen and Toubro Switchgear and their various offices. Also she has been commissioned to do the art work at Hospitals such as Kovai Medical Centre in Coimbatore where her paintings emit a sense of cheerfulness. Her paintings form part of the art collections of art lovers globally.

Currently Deepa Kern resides in the Nilgiris, India. The beautiful Nilgiri mountains are a constant inspiration, as are life and light which she explores and expresses in her work.
